Oswaldo Giacoia Jr.

Full Professor in the Department of Philosophy at UNICAMP since 2013. Professor in the Graduate Program in Philosophy at PUCPR since 2020. Graduated in Philosophy from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (1976) and in Law from the Law School of the University of São Paulo (1976). Holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (1983) and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Freie Universität Berlin (1988). Completed postdoctoral research at Freie Universität Berlin (1993-94), Vienna (1997-98), and Lecce (2005-2006). His research focuses on Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, with emphasis on the History of Philosophy, Ethics, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Law, Philosophy of Psychoanalysis, and Political Philosophy. He works on topics such as cultural theory, pure and applied ethics, philosophy of law, social, political and historical philosophy, and metapsychology, especially regarding the works of Auguste Comte, Arthur Schopenhauer, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Sigmund Freud.
