Rethinking Patriarchalism in Chinese Philosophy: The Power of the Feminine in Dao De Jing
The research explores how classical Chinese thought not only expresses patriarchal conceptions but also embraces traditions that value the feminine, as in the rigorous reading of the Dao De Jing, where Yin (feminine) and Yang (masculine) are complementary polarities, and the feminine is represented as a creative force (WANG). The aim is to demonstrate that classical Chinese thought possesses its own resources for considering gender balance, beyond Western feminist thought.
