Qiaorong Yan
Yan Qiaorong, also known as Sílvia Yan, is the director of the China-Brazil Communication Research Center and a professor of Portuguese at the University of Communication of China, where she has 20 years of experience in teaching the Portuguese language. He graduated in 2004 from the Beijing Institute of Broadcasting, in the Portuguese Language course, and continued his academic training in Brazil, obtaining in 2008 the master's degree in Applied Linguistics at the Faculty of Letters of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. In 2018, she earned a PhD in Linguistics (Portuguese) from the University of Macau.
An expert in teaching Portuguese and Chinese-Portuguese translation, Sílvia Yan has dedicated her career to translation, research and didactic practice. She is a translator of 17 books and has participated in several translation projects of great national relevance, such as "Xi Jinping: Governance of China", "Encyclopedia of Chinese Culture" and "Textbooks of History for Macau Students". In addition, she is the co-author of several teaching materials, including the books "Learning Portuguese from Scratch", "Reading and Writing Workshop" and "Writing for Different Purposes", widely used in Portuguese courses in China.
Sílvia Yan is also a specialist in undergraduate teaching guidance at the University of Communication of China, acting as a pedagogical supervisor. Throughout her career, she has received several awards and recognitions, including the "Award for Excellence in Academic Achievements in Foreign Languages Less Taught in China", the "Award for Excellence in Teaching" from the University of Communication of China (2018), the honor on the "World Portuguese Language Day" granted by the Embassies of Portuguese-speaking Countries in China (2023) and the title of "Outstanding Young Translator" conferred by the Chinese Association of Translators (2024).
